TP Marine today, 20 years ago!
In 2006, RIB International magazine sent its tester Paul Lemmer to IJmuiden to put two TP Marine 9-metre RIBs through their paces, on a day when a force 9 to 10 north-westerly was blowing and the North Sea showed its roughest side.
The test showed what still defines our boats today: a deep-V hull with a 24° variable deadrise, a strongly flared bow and a pronounced chine that lifts the tubes clear of the water at speed, for a dry, stable and predictable ride. Even in steep, breaking seas the boats were handled in a controlled and safe manner, giving crews both safety and comfort.
- Two 9 m RIBs with Volvo Penta D6 diesel sterndrives (300 and 350 hp)
- Deep-V hull, 24° variable deadrise, beam over 3 m and a flat deck
- Vinylester resins and heavy-duty 1680 denier Hypalon tubes
- Tested off IJmuiden in force 9–10 winds and steep North Sea waves
