Overview

All-weather wheelhouse, waterjet agility

The K11 of the Hurricane aluminium series: a heavy-duty, high-speed patrol boat with an all-welded marine-grade aluminium Deep-V hull and wheelhouse, built to Det Norske Veritas rules. A high-impact Trelleborg hybrid foam fender runs around the bow and sides, so crews can come alongside and board other vessels safely.

Twin Volvo Penta marine diesels (2 × 165 kW / 450 HP combined) drive UltraJet UJ251 waterjets: shallow draught, no exposed propellers and precise manoeuvring. The insulated wheelhouse offers a 345° view, air-conditioning and heating, a toilet compartment, and an outside control post for beaching or berthing alongside.

Designed for surveillance and patrol, security tasks and alarm response, search and rescue, medical evacuation, customs work and disaster relief. The bow is reinforced for light ice conditions.

Hull & superstructure

All-welded aluminium construction, divided into watertight compartments, with continuous welds below the main deck. Bottom longitudinals at 200 mm and frames at 600 mm; the engine bed is designed to keep shafting vibrations low. The hull and engine room are coated with Noxudol to reduce slamming noise, the engine room has sound-damping foam, and a flush sacrificial anode system protects against corrosion. Lifting points are integrated at bow and stern.

Fender

Trelleborg hybrid collar: PU-reinforced rubber skin over closed-cell polyethylene foam of variable density, moulded to specification, with an extra impact pipe along the sides. Lighter than traditional fenders with similar or better protection; the flat top has a non-skid surface for boarding.

Wheelhouse

Bridge forward, passenger area and toilet aft, flat floor and 2,100 mm headroom. Safety-glass windows give a 345° view; the front windows have sun-glare screening and pantograph wipers with washers. Lockable, watertight front and aft doors, an emergency escape hatch in the roof, and thermal insulation throughout. Webasto air-conditioning with heating and ten hot-air outlets; separate ventilation for the toilet.

Controls & instruments

From the bridge: steering, throttle, jet controls, trim tabs/interceptors, lights and bilge pumps, with Volvo Penta EVC engine data. An outside standing post behind the wheelhouse has engine start/stop, jet controls and horn for beaching or manoeuvring alongside. Alarms for bilge level, engine-room smoke and fire-system release, and water in fuel.

Electrical systems

Two pairs of starting batteries in the engine bay plus two emergency batteries that keep bilge pumps, emergency and navigation lights, fire detection, horn, GPS and VHF running for three hours. A 7 kW Onan generator starts automatically at low voltage; 115 A marine alternators, converters and 230 V shore power with 220 V and 12 V outlets in the wheelhouse.

Safety & deck

Four automatic/manual bilge pumps plus hand pumps per compartment, an IMO-compliant aerosol fire-extinguishing system in the engine room, and flame-retardant insulation. Two SOLAS life rafts (min. 6 persons each), seven life jackets, three life buoys, 12 parachute rockets and 6 red flares. Self-draining deck, four mooring cleats, two towing bollards, bow towing eye and a foldable mast for road transport.
