Hurricane ALU 9 Rescue
Twin-outboard aluminium rescue and towing RIB with cabin
46 knots, a 13,000 lbs towing post and room for four in the cabin
The rescue and towing edition of the Hurricane ALU 9: a 9 m quick-response RIB with a welded marine-aluminium hull, an aluminium cabin and a polyurethane foam collar that shrugs off contact with casualties, quaysides and other vessels.
Twin Suzuki DF250 outboards give a top speed of 46 knots, with 500 litres of fuel for long search patterns. The outboard installation keeps the hull free of an engine room, makes servicing easy and gives the redundancy of two engines.
For towing, an A-frame towing post is built into the engine bay, hull floor and girder structure with a safe working load of 13,000 lbs, and can be engineered for higher loads. A polished towing eye prevents chafe on tow ropes and an engine protection bar keeps the lines clear of the outboards. The cabin seats four crew.

Why outboards
Twin outboards keep the hull free of an engine room, save weight, give redundancy and allow quick servicing or engine exchange. The Hurricane ALU 9 is also available with a diesel sterndrive or a diesel waterjet: see the Hurricane ALU 9 Police edition for those specifications.
Foam collar
A polyurethane foam collar cannot be punctured or deflated, needs very little maintenance and absorbs impacts when coming alongside casualties, other vessels or quaysides.
Configurations
Cabin semi-open or fully enclosed, rescue livery, searchlights, recovery equipment and electronics are configured to the mission.
